Despite the biting -7C winds and the Estates team having to brush the pitch of snow the Brambletye children put on a spectacular display to celebrate the opening of the Centenary Pitch.

Centenary Pitch Opening Celebration - the parade

The Opening of the Centenary Pitch on Saturday 17th March was a wonderfully happy occasion and a big moment for Brambletye.

The Pre Prep Brambletye Haka was the culmination of several weeks of practising and despite the rather sweet faces, the stamping feet and chanting would certianly scare any opposition!

The Prep children paraded down from the school accompainied by stirring music and dancing flame jets.  Their brightly coloured house tops were a sight to behold as the children ran onto the pitch to proudly display their hockey, netball, football and rugby skills despite their numb fingers.

A big thank you to Olympic Gold Medalist (Hockey), Richard Leman and Peter Blencowe, son of Brambletye's founder Reverend John Blencowe for cutting the ribbon and officially declaring the pitch open.  And of course our very own Will Brooks for hosting the entire event with only his suit for warmth.

Please do take a moment to relive the excitement of the day through this short video

A huge thank you to everyone who has given to the Centenary fund to make this possible.  There is now a real buzz about the Centenary Campaign and over £165K has been raised since the event.  If you are thinking about being part of the campaign and would like help to find the level of giving which you’re comfortable with please take a look at our Pledge Calculator.  Each and every donation is so important to the success of the campaign and we are hopeful we will see a level of participation which will enable us to raise the final third and press ahead with the second centenary project, the Creative Learning Centre.
